Event Details
Step into a softly glowing world of creativity at Art After Dark, a special black light painting event at the library on January 13 from 5–7 PM. This after-hours experience takes place in the gallery, surrounded by the glow-in-the-dark acrylic paintings of local artist John Harold Scott, illuminated under black lights for a quietly magical winter atmosphere.
Visitors are welcome to explore the gallery throughout the evening, and attendees ages 15 and up may also register in advance to participate in the painting activity. Registered participants will be able to paint a 6” x 6” black panel using fluorescent acrylic paints. Once dry, each piece will be assembled into a collaborative, light-up community mural that will remain on display in the library through the spring.
To close the evening, the lights will go out for five minutes at 6:45pm, allowing Scott’s artwork to fully glow in the dark—an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind moment that invites visitors to slow down and experience the magic of art after dark.
Note: Due to limited seating and supplies, it is VERY important that you register in advance if you wish to participate in the painting activity at this event. Registration for this event will open Monday, December 15, and close at 5:00pm on Monday, December 17.
