United Way of Southwestern Oregon's Day of Caring is back! This year they are proud to bring back this fun, family-friendly volunteer opportunity to help a neighbor in need of basic yardwork.

Can we count on you to help your neighbor? Curry County and Coos County individuals, teams, and families are all invited to volunteer to help local seniors, people with disabilities, and other residents in need of assistance with routine yardwork.

CURRY COUNTY: Saturday, May 18, 2024 (headquarters: Brookings Chetco Library - 405 Alder St.)

SCHEDULE:

  • 8:30am - registration

  • 9am-12pm - yardwork, shift #1!

  • 12-1pm - lunch/raffle drawings

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Volunteer teams of 4-5 individuals are encouraged to sign up! Co-workers, service clubs, youth groups, and families are encouraged to sign up!

  • Volunteers should be able to provide their own transportation and lawn care tools. Tasks may include lawn mowing, weed whacking, brush cutting, raking, and cleaning gutters.

  • Volunteers can choose Shift #1, Shift #2, or both Shifts.

  • Yardwork assignments will be made based on volunteer tool availability. (If your team would like to help a specific individual/household, please let us know when registering.)

  • Volunteers will be entered into a raffle drawing for a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant or business.

  • United Way will provide basic first aid supplies, lawn bags, and work gloves.
