Event Details

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.

Most of us don’t realize we have just two minutes to escape a home fire — which is the nation’s most frequent disaster. On average:

  • 7 people die every day from a home fire, most impacting children and the elderly
  • More than 30 people suffer injuries from home fires every day
  • More than $7 billion in property damage occurs from home fires every year

That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events. At this presentation, you'll learn about home fire prevention and safety, including a discussion about how to make a 2-minute fire escape plan to your home and family. Plus, Red Cross volunteers will be on hand to provide more information and sign up attendees for free smoke alarm installations!

Doors will open 10:00am, presentation begins 10:30am. Light refreshment will be served!
