Event Details
Join local tea expert Kai for an exploration of the history and culture of tea drinking. We’ll find out how the leaves of one unassuming bush - Camellia Sinensis - are transformed into the world’s second most popular beverage.
Whether you’re a regular tea drinker and want to expand your knowledge, are trying to cut down on coffee, or just want to learn something new, this gathering is for you!
A message from Kai: I was raised on Lipton tea bags, but half a lifetime ago I came across a quality Chinese black tea called Tippy South Cloud, and it was a revelation for my taste buds. I still drink it regularly, and over the years I’ve discovered many others which I love to share.
In this mini-workshop, we’ll learn about the six main styles of tea and look at what makes traditionally processed loose-leaf teas so unique and delicious. We’ll check out some different ways of brewing tea and talk about the many factors that go into making the perfect cup of tea.
Most importantly, we’ll sip seven of Kai's favorite teas, experiencing the wide range of flavors that the humble tea leaf can produce: sweet, earthy, grassy, fruity, bitter, malty, floral, umami, and even creamy.
At the end, you will have an opportunity to purchase some teas from my collection. (No purchase required. This event is free to attend.)
Keep in mind:
There is a maximum of 10 participants and you MUST claim a spot in order to attend!
We’ll start right at 11am and end at 1pm.
If you can’t make it, please let us know so that someone else can claim your spot.
