Event Details

Can you walk, run, cycle, or swim the length of the Oregon Coast before the end of the year?

In 2026, the library invites you to join our Oregon Coast Mileage Challenge and turn everyday movement into a yearlong adventure. From January 1 through December 31, track your walking, running, cycling, swimming (or any other measurable physical activity) as you work to log 363 miles, or the approximate length of the Oregon Coast.

Getting started is easy: pick up an Oregon Coast Mileage Log at the library and start charting your progress! Along the way, we’ll spotlight notable coastal stops on the map in your mileage log and suggest inspiring reads and resources that connect you more deeply to our region. Plus, the first 50 people to pick up a mileage log will also receive a free movement kit that includes a light exercise band, massage ball, water bottle—and a 9-week Couch to 5K training guide for those who want to go the extra mile!

Plus, there are rewards all along the route to keep you motivated! For every 50 miles completed, show your log to a staff member to earn a small prize. Finish all 363 miles and turn in your completed log by December 31, 2026, and we’ll celebrate your accomplishment and enter you into a grand prize drawing.

Ready to map your miles? Movement logs and movement kits (while supplies last) will be available at the library starting January 2, 2026.
